A Tangram is a Chinese puzzle which is a square divided into seven simple geometric shapes
(five triangles, a square and a parallelogram). These shapes can be arranged into numerous combinations to usually form figures.
I cut-up four of my old aquatint etching plates into the Tangram geometric shapes which I then rearranged into abstract patterns forming dynamic figures.

Tangram 1-7. Each of these Tangram print images have been made from separately cut-up aquatint plates.

The Complete Concertina Bound Book
I thought it would be interesting to include the original metal plates used to print the first and last
pages of the book. So I placed them as 'bookends' next to their relevant printed pages. In actual fact,
when the book is closed it reunites the etching plates to their images just as they would be when
they last met during the printing process in the etching press!
