My printmaking practice is informed by two experiences: first, as a student at Camberwell School of Art and second, my career as a creative director in London’s advertising industry. Camberwell gave
me a solid foundation in drawing and my experience in advertising sharpened my creative thinking and conceptual skills.
For over ten years, and running concurrently with my advertising work,
I was a key sessional lecturer at the University of the Creative Arts.
I now focus exclusively on printmaking and have created a portfolio
of etchings based both on drawings from my travel sketch books and concepts responding to worldwide issues and interests.
My aim is to surprise myself when I pull that first proof print off the etching press and also create surprise and intrigue for you too.
Overall winner of the ‘Inspired By’ competition in 2016 sponsored by the V&A. The submission, Needle & Thread, was a handmade concertina book of six original needle etchings with a connecting gold coloured thread running from print to print. The book was bound with blue cloth covers with a thread motif on the front cover. This book is now in the V&A permanent collection.
Winner of the first prize in printmaking in the ‘Inspired By’ competition 2018 sponsored by the V&A. My submission was ‘Aleppo’, an original aquatint print wrapped around a fibreglass model of a missile.
